They are the aristocracy of the damned – and seem to be a prophetic archetype of Ezekiel’s “Gog.”  In the Old Testament, there are many references to a mysterious race known in the ancient past as the “Rephaim.”  An examination of several scriptural references reveals some amazing things, and significantly adds to the understanding of prophecy.  Ancient writings from the Middle East, as well as the Bible itself, have long identified them as inhabitants of the underworld.  They are described as the departed spirits of the dead.  Furthermore, though they may be dissipated in strength in their present state, they appear to be conscious and in possession of knowledge about their existing condition.  They are also the recipients of some of God’s most severe judgments.  But defining them is not as simple as it may first appear, because there are also numerous references to living members of the Rephaim.  Perhaps the most ancient mention of this strange “people” is found in Job 26, where Job contributes to a discussion about the wicked dead …

“Dead things are formed from under the waters, and the inhabitants thereof.  Hell is naked before him, and destruction hath no covering” (Job 26:5-6). Continue reading “THE REPHAIM: THE LEGENDARY GIANTS”

The “end of the world” was a term used by the King James translators in Matthew 24:3 where the disciples asked “… what shall be the sign of thy coming and of the end of the world?”  This foreboding term is often used today by the news media to poke fun and generally disparage Christians.  They use it as if it meant the extinction of the human race.  One must admit that this English translation seems a bit unfortunate for us.  However, it actually refers to the end of an “age” or dispensation.  The disciples longed for the time when Christ would set up a world government of his own.  John explains it further in the book of Revelation.  He said Christ would reign for a thousand years (Revelation 20:1-6).  After that millennium is over, however, the final judgment will come.  The unsaved wicked will be turned into the lake of fire and the saved righteous will enter eternal bliss in the New heavenly Jerusalem. In understanding the prophetic themes of the Bible, it is important to understand the significance of Moses.  Moses was the first of the writing prophets.  Since he was the great lawgiver, it is understandable that his role as prophet was generally overlooked by Christian theologians down through the centuries.  Most commentaries missed the fact that Moses laid the foundation for all of the prophets.  His work is amplified by every other writer of the Bible.  In looking at the prophecies of Psalm 102, it can be discovered that the whole collection of the 150 Psalms has to be more than just the simple songs of an ancient Jewish culture – only good for use at funerals and prayer meetings.  In Psalm 90, Moses wrote that “a thousand years” in God’s sight was “as yesterday.”  In looking at Psalm 48, it can be seen that the psalm alludes to the 1948 rebirth of the nation of Israel.  The rebirth of Israel in that year fulfills a dramatic prophecy given in Isaiah 66. God foretold long ago that after He brought the attered Jewish people out from among the nations, He would declare them to be a nation in a single day … Continue reading “THE END AFTER THE END OF 6,000 YEARS: HAVE WE ENTERED THE 7,000TH YEAR?”

Woe unto you that desire the day of the Lord! to what end is it for you? the day of the Lord is darkness, and not light.  As if a man did flee from a lion, and a bear met him; or went into the house, and leaned his hand on the wall, and a serpent bit him.  Shall not the day of the Lord be darkness, and not light? even very dark, and no brightness in it? (Amos 5:18-20).

“A day of darkness and of gloominess, a day of clouds and of thick darkness, as the morning spread upon the mountains: a great people and a strong; there hath not been ever the like, neither shall be any more after it, even to the years of many generations” (Joel 2:2).

Christ’s return is still imminent.  This article is only a brief sampling of the many New Testament verses in support of Christ’s most basic promise, to come for the church before the seven years of global judgment, the Tribulation, strikes the earth.  “I will come again and receive you unto myself” (John 14:3).  Later in this article, I will share with you the reader a dramatic sign that my wife was a personal witness of that would indicate that the Rapture and the much spoken of biblical time of judgment known as the Tribulation period are quickly approaching events soon to occur.  It is a sign that she, a skeptic and still a skeptic, first saw with her own two eyes and very fortunately captured on camera. The photo is quite dramatic and telling of the times in which we are currently living in for those with the correct discernment.  It is a time of storm clouds on the horizon, a time of descending darkness. When the history of “Mystery Babylon The Great” from Revelation 17 and 18 are examined from it’s commercial history perspective, we discover that it was the ancient merchants of Tarshish that were headquartered first in Tyre, then later in Carthage, Rome and other parts of Europe.  In Ezekiel 27, they provide the prophetic model for the last days “merchant bankers” of our era.  Today, these men control the world’s commerce, operating under the ancient premise that their transactions supersede the laws of the various nations that they use to promote their global profiteering.  These men have always operated under the so-called “Law Merchant,” which gives them a kind of immunity from the strictures of local practice.  Rather, they are a law unto themselves, and their credo is global citizenship. In this generation, there is a phenomenon that has been chronicled by academics and dramatists alike. It is well known throughout all levels of society. At first, it was viewed as a myth; now it carries the veracity and weight of any other commonly-reported social phenomenon. In documentary fashion, motion picture theaters and television productions have presented it many times. “The Horseleach hath two daughters,  crying Give, give.  There are three things that are never satisfied, yea, four things say not,  it is enough” (Proverbs 30:15).

It would be hard to find a verse in the Bible that has been stretched to the exegetical breaking point more than Proverbs 30:15.  It’s cryptic reference to the “horseleach” is usually seen as an antiquated reference to some Middle Eastern animal so lost in the mists of time that we can never really know what it is.  Either that,  or it is seen as a metaphor for the sucking of blood (or life) out of a human being.  But who or what is performing this unseemly activity?  And who are the two daughters?  What are they asking for?  As we look into the answers to these questions,  we shall find that it is both illuminating and exciting.  For, in fact, the thirtieth chapter of Proverbs is a prophecy that throws a special light on the last days.  What’s more,  it meshes perfectly with the last days prophecies found in the New Testament.
