As many Christian prophecy watchers are well aware, there have been numerous signs in the heavens taking place in the past several years. The tendency of many is to observe these signs with amazement and then to forget them as a sign no longer relevant with current prophetic implication. A yesteryear sign that “went nowhere” and was seemingly relevant then but not relevant to now, or some fuzzy variation of that. The next thought may be “oh well, let’s go get a cheeseburger and watch Breaking Bad reruns.” But what I will seek to do in this article is revive the staggering implications of a heavenly sign that occurred starting in the year 2000 – ending in the year 2007 – and show it’s divinely ordained significance to prophetic events taking place right now that this heavenly planetary conjunction sign seems to have been portending. There does indeed seem to be a prophetic link that we may be overlooking. We would do well to consider the signs that God has given us thus far and make some connections that we may have perhaps not seen before, especially in the light of hindsight in observing what has happened since those signs. With that said, let’s take a look at the year 2000 and the rare conjunction of Planets that occurred starting in May 2000 and continued for seven years thereafter.
Some remarkable planetary conjunctions occurred in May 2000 as all five major planets, along with the sun and moon, were grouped together as they moved out of the constellation Aries, and entered into Taurus around May 4. Venus went into conjunction with Jupiter and Saturn on May 17-18. All three of our brightest planets were extremely close together as Venus had a conjunction with Jupiter on the morning of May 17, and just a few hours later with Saturn on May 18. Ten days later, on May 27, Jupiter and Saturn had a conjunction. This was a remarkable series of events to occur in a single month. Were these planetary alignments signs in the heavens? Jesus told of such signs in Luke 21 …
“Then said he unto them, Nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom: And great earthquakes shall be in divers places, and famines, and pestilences; and fearful sights and great signs shall there be from heaven. But before all these, they shall lay their hands on you, and persecute you, delivering you up to the synagogues, and into prisons, being brought before kings and rulers for my name’s sake. And it shall turn to you for a testimony” (Luke 21:10-13).
Jesus continued in verses 24-27 …
“And there shall be signs in the sun, and in the moon, and in the stars; and upon the earth distress of nations, with perplexity; the sea and the waves roaring; Men’s hearts failing them for fear, and for looking after those things which are coming on the earth: for the powers of heaven shall be shaken. And then shall they see the Son of man coming in a cloud with power and great glory” (Luke 21:25-27).
Is it possible that these signs in May of 2000 were a part of the signs of Jesus’ Second Coming?
SIGNS OF HIS BIRTH
We are told that when Christ was born, Magi came from the east with tales of a star that appeared in the heavens – a star which they interpreted as a divine sign for the birth of the King of the Jews. This star has been the subject of speculation over the centuries. What was it? A comet? A conjunction of planets? A supernova? An Angel? Suggestions include a variety of celestial possibilities. For example, there was a triple conjunction of Jupiter and Saturn in 7.B.C., similar to the conjunction of those same two planets that caught the attention of the Egyptian astrologers about three years before the birth of Moses. According to Flavius Josephus, they reported to Pharoah,
“… about this time there would be a child born to the Israelites, who, if he were reared, would bring the Egyptian domination low, and would raise the Israelites; that he would excel all men in virtue, and would obtain a glory that would be remembered through all ages” (Antiquities, book 2 chapter IX, paragraph 2).
Another astronomical event took place in the second century B.C. that lasted nearly 400 years. A supernova appeared in the head of the child in the lap of Coma, a sidereal sidepiece to the constellation Virgo. It was so bright, it could be seen in the daytime. By the second century A.D., it had almost faded away. According to The Star that Astonished the World, by Ernest L. Martin, Jupiter and Venus were in conjunction on July 17, 2 B.C., – so close that they appeared as one bright light in the western evening sky. Modern astronomers have dubbed it, “The Christmas Star.” On the night of Rosh Hashana, September 11, 3 B.C., Jupiter was in conjunction with Regulus, the brightest star between the front legs of Leo, the lion. It passed across the star, stopped around the first of December and began a retrograde movement, crossing Regulus again on February 17, 2 B.C. It continued it’s backward trek 40 days, then turned around again and had a third conjunction with Regulus on May 8, 2 B.C. The remarkable thing about this triple conjunction is that the dying Jacob gave a prophecy on his deathbed concerning the coming of the Messiah from the tribe of Judah – to which he gave the sign of the celestial lion …
“Judah, thou art he whom thy brethren shall praise: thy hand shall be in the neck of thine enemies; thy father’s children shall bow down before thee. Judah is a lion’s whelp: from the prey, my son, thou art gone up: he stooped down, he couched as a lion, and as an old lion; who shall rouse him up? The sceptre shall not depart from Judah, nor a lawgiver from between his feet, until Shiloh come; and unto him shall the gathering of the people be” (Genesis 49:8-10).
The Hebrew word used for “his feet,” reglaiv, is very close to the Latin, Regulus, the name of the star located precisely between the front feet of Leo the lion. We get the word “regal” and “regulation” from Regulus. The Hebrew regel (foot) is so similar to the name of the star that one must suspect a connection. Regulus has been known down through the centuries as the “king star.” Jacob said the the “scepter” [a royal rod held in the hand of a king] shall not depart from Judah … until Shiloh [a reference to the Messiah] come.” Oddly enough, the scepter represented by Regulus is a sickle! Regulus is located at the beginning of the handle in a sickle that resides in the head of Leo! Is this sickle the royal scepter in Jacob’s deathbed prophecy?
Jupiter was also connected with royalty. It was known as the royal planet or the king planet. It’s movement may have held some special significance to the Magi as Jupiter, the king planet moved into it’s first of three conjunctions with Regulus, the king star, between the feet of Leo. Circling above Regulus, Jupiter seemed to draw a crown – as if to signify the arrival of the divine King. Could Jacob’s prophecy about Shiloh coming when the scepter was between the feet of Leo, have seen it’s fulfillment in the conjunctions of Jupiter and Regulus? Could these events be the legendary Christmas Star calculated by the Magi? It is at least remarkable that Jupiter should move across Regulus on the very night of Rosh Hashana, the Jewish New Year’s Eve, 3 B.C. Even more remarkable is that the king planet should turn around and backtrack past Regulus for a second conjunction the following February, then return for a third conjunction on May 8, just a few weeks before the July 17 spectacular conjunction of Jupiter and Venus. That, by the way, also took place between the front and hind feet of Leo.
SIGNS IN THE HEAVENS
If “signs in the heavens,” announced the first coming of Christ, did the rare conjunction of these planets in 2000 declare the soon second coming of Christ? We do not know when Christ will return, but with the help of a computer and an astronomy program, one is able to observe the planets over these past years and future and see some remarkable astronomical events. To be clear, I am not advocating setting a date for the rapture or the second coming of Christ based upon astronomical observation. Furthermore, this should not be construed as in any way being related to astrology. This is simply showing the various conjunctions that happened and considering what they would have meant to the ancient astronomer in the days of the Bible. Thus accordingly, those meanings have direct sign posts for us who are living in the days just before the monumental prophecies of the return of Christ and judgment awaiting the world in these last days. According to The Witness of the Stars, by E.W. Bullinger, published in 1893, Taurus begins the story of the Second Coming of Christ. Bullinger writes …
“In this third and last book, we come to the concluding portion of this heavenly revelation. It’s subject is redemption completed, and consummated in triumph … the glory that should follow. The sign in Chaldee is Tor; Greek is Tauros; Latin is Taurus. The Hebrew name was Shur [rua], which is from a root meaning both coming and ruling. It is a prophecy of Christ, the coming Judge, and Ruler, and Lord of all the earth.”
According to Bullinger, the twelve major constellations are divided into three sections of four apparitions. The first four, Virgo, Libra, Scorpio and Sagittarius speak of the first coming of Christ. The next four, Capricorn, Aquarius, Pisces and Aries set forth the Church Age. The final four, Taurus, Gemini, Cancer and Leo depict the second coming of Christ. Interestingly enough, we saw Saturn entering Taurus in May of 2000. Seven years later, Saturn entered Leo moving through it’s conjunction with Regulus as the calendar approached Rosh Hashana, September 12, 2007. So, who is Saturn?
SATURN, THE GRIM REAPER
If there is one line or sentence of thought to remember regarding this article is the fact that over those seven years, from 2000 to 2007, Saturn traveled through the constellations that tell the story of the wrath of God being poured out upon an unbelieving world. That would be Taurus, the coming Judge; Gemini, which in ancient zodiacs tells the story of the Bridegroom and his bride; Cancer, the symbol of resurrection; and Leo, the lion pouncing on Hydra, a many-headed serpent. These constellations along with their sidereal sidepieces tell the story of second coming of Christ. Saturn was known in ancient mythology as the reaper. He carried a sickle. From him have emerged legends of the Grim Reaper.
He is connected with the prophetic symbols that deal with the harvest of the wicked. In Revelation 14, we are told about the use of the symbolic sickle …
“And I looked, and behold a white cloud, and upon the cloud one sat like unto the Son of man, having on his head a golden crown, and in his hand a sharp sickle. And another angel came out of the temple, crying with a loud voice to him that sat on the cloud, Thrust in thy sickle, and reap: for the time is come for thee to reap; for the harvest of the earth is ripe. And he that sat on the cloud thrust in his sickle on the earth; and the earth was reaped. And another angel came out of the temple which is in heaven, he also having a sharp sickle. And another angel came out from the altar, which had power over fire; and cried with a loud cry to him that had the sharp sickle, saying, Thrust in thy sharp sickle, and gather the clusters of the vine of the earth; for her grapes are fully ripe. And the angel thrust in his sickle into the earth, and gathered the vine of the earth, and cast it into the great winepress of the wrath of God. And the winepress was trodden without the city, and blood came out of the winepress, even unto the horse bridles, by the space of a thousand and six hundred furlongs” (Revelation 14:14-20).
The Jews called Saturn Shabbatai after the Sabbath. Our modern name for Saturday is also derived from Saturn. It portrays the great Sabbath – the seventh millennium – and final judgments connected with it. Two sickles are given in Revelation 14. Could these be referring to Saturn and Regulus, each of which is associated with a sickle?
Not only is Saturn always shown with a sickle, but Regulus, the king star in Leo, is located at the beginning of the handle in a sickle that extends through the head of Leo. The point of the sickle protrudes from the lion’s mouth. Could that sickle represent the sword in the mouth of Christ? …
“And out of his mouth goeth a sharp sword, that with it he should smite the nations: and he shall rule them with a rod of iron: and he treadeth the winepress of the fierceness and wrath of Almighty God” (Revelation 19:15).
Furthermore, adjacent to Leo stands Bootes, a sidereal sidepiece in Virgo that tells us who Virgo’s son represents. Bootes holds a sickle in his hand as well – expressing the fact that Christ will be the one who wields the sickle of God’s judgment as expressed in Revelation 19:15 above. In the Rotunda ceiling at the Griffith Observatory in Los Angeles, California, a mural of Saturn, by Hugo Ballin, shows the Grim Reaper below the sickle in the mouth of Leo (seen on the left side of the below picture).
Around August 19, 2007, Saturn moved into a conjunction with Regulus. It was near it’s conjunction as the calendar approached Rosh Hashana (Feast of Trumpets), the Jewish New Year on September 12, 2007. Did Saturn’s conjunction with Regulus complete the story that began on the night of Jupiter’s conjunction with Regulus in 3 B. C.? And what about the fact this conjunction took seven years to end and it ended on 2007 of all years. What is the significance of the year 2007? Here is the big punchline of this fascinating turn of events in that momentous decade of planetary alignment.
PSALM 107, YEAR 2007 AND MYSTERY BABYLON
In a previous article titled “THE SEVEN-FOLD DEATH OF MEGALOPOLIS: GOD’S HIDDEN SIGN,” I mentioned how that back in the 1980s, the late prophetic expositor J.R. Church pointed out the fact that the psalms seem to have been encoded with allusions to modern events that happened in the specific year according to the number of the psalm. Going back through modern history, one can see that this is the case. In looking at Psalm 107, one can see the clues that allude to the emerging world government Babylonian merchant system (Mystery Babylon) that picked up steam in the year 2007, the year number of the psalm. In Psalm 107 we read …
“They that go down to the sea in ships, that do business in great waters; These see the works of the Lord, and his wonders in the deep. For he commandeth, and raiseth the stormy wind, which lifteth up the waves thereof. They mount up to the heaven, they go down again to the depths: their soul is melted because of trouble. They reel to and fro, and stagger like a drunken man, and are at their wit’s end. Then they cry unto the Lord in their trouble, and he bringeth them out of their distresses” (Psalm 107: 23-28). “He poureth contempt upon princes, and causeth them to wander in the wilderness, where there is no way” (verse 40).
A treaty has been in the process of being ratified. It is called the “United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea” (UNCLOS). Once ratified, it will be able to rule on issues usually reserved for the local governments of each individual nation. It will effect national sovereignty, navigation rights, international taxation, the environment and energy production. The ancient Lex Mercatoria (Merchant Law) is being revised to prepare for the emergence of a world government, swallowing up the sovereignties of small nations and allowing for central control of all nations by an unelected elite. In the hands of a powerful, unelected few, it could threaten the long tradition of freedom on the high seas – A full 70 percent of the earth’s surface. This brings a familiar Bible theme to mind. It is one of the most familiar prophecies in the Bible, a powerful visual image seen and recorded by the Apostle John, as he wrote the book of Revelation. His vision expands upon the book of Daniel, and brings perspective and detail to Daniel’s “fourth beast,” which represents the final, global world empire. In Daniel, the beast is placed in the context of the three beasts that precede it. In Revelation, it is given a recognizable form and a source of origin:
“And I stood upon the sand of the sea, and saw a beast rise up out of the sea, having seven heads and ten horns, and upon his horns ten crowns, and upon his heads the name of blasphemy. And the beast which I saw was like unto a leopard, and his feet were as the feet of a bear, and his mouth as the mouth of a lion: and the dragon gave him his power, and his seat, and great authority. And I saw one of his heads as it were wounded to death; and his deadly wound was healed: and all the world wondered after the beast. And they worshipped the dragon which gave power unto the beast: and they worshipped the beast, saying, Who is like unto the beast? who is able to make war with him” (Revelation 13:1-4).
Daniel describes four world empires as four beasts – the lion, the bear, the leopard and a fierce, unnamed beast with iron teeth. Clearly, the fourth beast is the great sea beast of Revelation 13. It reaches it’s peak of power during the approaching seven-year judgment upon earth known as the “Tribulation.”
Of significant and profound prophetic note to be observed is that the year 2007 saw the strong support of the Bush Administration and a receptive Democratic majority approve the Convention by the Committee on a 17-4 majority and “was primed for its first-ever Senate vote.” UNCLOS took a huge step forward, even though it is still delayed today. Stunningly, Psalm 107 contains a prophecy for this specific event in the year 2007 singling out those elite who are in power attempting to assemble a wicked system of global governance. It just so “happens” that psalm 107 that describes the emerging world government beast, called Mystery Babylon, has seven reversed nuns, indicating it’s eventual judgment. Is it a coincidence that UNCLOS took a huge step forward in 2007, representing the Mystery Babylon system described in it’s Psalm year 107? The evidence says no.
How significant is it that from the years 2000 to 2007 we should see Saturn traveling through the constellations that tell the story of the wrath of God being poured out upon an unbelieving world.
Facts to consider …
- The planetary conjunction started at the end of the 6th millennium (year 2000) signifying the end of 6,000 years of man’s rule on earth with the seventh (starting in 2001) signifying the return of Christ and his 1,000 year rule on earth in the millennial reign. We are now in the beginning years of the 7th millennium and we now have a president and vice-president with biblically peculiar last names that seem to be announcing the rapture event and the beginning of the Tribulation followed by the 1,000 year reign of Christ on earth for the 7th millennium … TRUMP-PENCE = Trumpets – “Behold, I shew you a mystery; We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed, In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed”/ TRUMP = Trump of God – “For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.
- The Saturn conjunction with Regulus took place in the 7th year of the seven-year heavenly story of the return of Christ (the tribulation will last for 7 years).
- The seventh and final year of the Saturn and Regulus conjunction took place in the year 2007 – hinting at Psalm 107 where the global beast system called Mystery Babylon is singled out and judged (remember that the psalm numbers correspond to the year numbers that hint at relevant events of their respective year).
- Saturn was known in ancient mythology as the reaper. He carried a sickle. From him have emerged legends of the grim reaper. He is connected with the prophetic symbols that deal with the harvest of the wicked. In Revelation 14, we are told about the use of the symbolic sickle, and here’s the kicker – the angelic announcement of the fall of Mystery Babylon is also made with the use of the angelic sickles for the harvest of the wicked … all in this same chapter. This very conjunction took place in 2007 corresponding with Psalm 107 describing Mystery Babylon’s judgment and fall.
THE IMPORTANCE OF TEN
Prophetically speaking, it seems like divine perfection and intention that this heavenly sign occurred in the years that it did. The concluding year of 2007 seems especially divinely poetic for not only the reasons given above, but also because just ten years after the prophetically landmark year of 2007, which saw the conclusion of this telling and ominous seven year prophetic sign in the heavens, we have seen Donald “Trump” rise to power in the year 2017 … the significance of which I have explained above. In scripture numerology, numbers have a divine purpose and meaning. The number of years between the ending of this heavenly sign (2007) and the insertion of President “Trump” on the world scene of the most powerful nation on earth is, as stated, ten years. The biblical meaning of number 10 is completed course of time or completeness in divine order. Today this number is used only when referring to any kind of ranking or when describing anything that is near to perfection. The number 10 is the symbol of
matter in harmony. God gave us the 10 Commandments that were a reflection of His expectations of mankind and as a way to represent His holiness. Couldn’t there have been more than 10 Commandments? Why not 15 or 20? The fact is that the 10 Commandments, if kept, would be all that society would require to live in peace and harmony with both God and mankind. The number 10 seems to reflect God’s authority or God’s governmental rule over the affairs of mankind. This is seen elsewhere as in the 10 elders that were placed in most of the city gates of Israel (Ruth 4:2). Such a number seems to indicate the law, responsibility and a completeness of order in both divine and human structures of society. Some scholars see 10 as the number of divine perfection. As 10 represented God’s governmental rule, so does the number 10 represent the rule of mankind but also the Evil One behind man’s government as we see in the ten toes of Daniel 2 and in Revelation chapter’s 13 and 17 of the beast with the ten horns. Throughout the Bible horns are representative of strength and great power. In Revelation 2:10 Jesus tells the church as Smyrna …
“And the ten horns which thou sawest are ten kings, which have received no kingdom as yet; but receive power as kings one hour with the beast.
The beast has ten toes and ten diadems and the beast’s ten horns represented ten kings:
“And the ten horns which thou sawest are ten kings, which have received no kingdom as yet; but receive power as kings one hour with the beast” (Revelation 17:12).
The phrase “God said” appears ten times in the creation week of Genesis 1. I don’t believe in coincidences, so the fact that “God said” is mentioned ten times may be his way of saying that there is completeness in all of God’s creation and in all that God says. I find it interesting that humans, who were created in the image of God (Gen 1:27), have ten fingers and ten toes.
When God punished Egypt for not letting Israel go, there were ten plagues unleashed upon Egypt which are reflective of the completeness of God’s judgment. These plagues were also related, by no accident, to the false God’s that the Egyptians worshiped, so the fact is not lost that God used Egypt’s own false gods against them to prove that God is the one true God and there is no other. This was intended to prove to both Egypt and Israel who the real God was and that the other gods were, in actuality, no gods at all.
The Passover lamb was to be sacrificed on the 10th day of the first month (Ex 12:3) which was symbolic of the true Passover Lamb, Jesus Christ which John the Baptist noticed when He saw Christ and said “Behold, the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world” (John 1:29). Since Jesus was the atonement provided for sinners, the Day of Atonement was on the 10th day of the 7th month.
There were exactly ten generations that lived up to the flood of Noah’s day when the flood of God’s judgment on sinful mankind overwhelmed all those who refused to repent. Noah was the 10th patriarch and after this generation, God’s judgment fell on mankind because “The Lord saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every intention of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually. And the Lord regretted that he had made man on the earth, and it grieved him to his heart. So the Lord said, “I will blot out man whom I have created from the face of the land, man and animals and creeping things and birds of the heavens, for I am sorry that I have made them.” But Noah found favor in the eyes of the Lord” (Gen 6:5-8). Abraham, the father of the faithful, was the 10th generation from Shem, the son of Noah (Gen 11:10-26).
The tithe which is 10% of what Israel gained was holy unto the Lord. This tithe was compulsory and was said to belong to the Lord, therefore it was holy. Today, we are not under the Old Covenant, but many still believe in tithing while some are not able to give that much, but those who have been blessed are able to give more than a 10th.
Jesus used the number 10 in many of his sayings, particularly his parables …
- There were ten virgins (Matthew 25:1-13)
- There were ten lepers (Luke 17:11-19).
- There were ten talents (Matthew 25:14-30)
- There were ten minas (19:12-27)
- There were exactly ten instances of Jesus speak the words “I am” in the Gospel of John
By now, you can surely see the importance of the number 10. The number of ten years between the ending of the seven year heavenly sign that culminated in the year 2007 with Saturn’s conjunction with Regulus and Trump’s insertion to the presidency (given his peculiar last name along with Pence) is hopefully at this point becoming obvious that
there is a divine hand at work here. Given the importance of the number of ten years between the year 2007 (psalm 107 and it’s connection with Mystery Babylon) and 2017, it seems that God was giving a heavenly signal that the emerging evil world system of Mystery Babylon will soon meet it’s end in divine judgment along with the wicked. These heavenly signs along with the ten year time gap from then til 2017 can be no accident. In the economy of God, there are no accidents and no coincidences. God doesn’t do things haphazardly and on a whim. The universe and all of it’s happenings and signs are pre-orchestrated to occur determined by pre-selected times. These signs are speaking to us as a divine warning from God that there is a divine reckoning at hand for all of human kind – for every man and woman upon the face of the earth. God has given us, and continues to give us, myriads of heavenly signs. But we must know how to interpret those signs. Jesus said …
“… and fearful sights and great signs shall there be from heaven” (Luke 21:11b).
As faithful watchers of the signs that God is giving us, let’s dig in and eat some meat … not only for us, but for the sake of warning the lost …
“And I, brethren, could not speak unto you as unto spiritual, but as unto carnal, even as unto babes in Christ. I have fed you with milk, and not with meat: for hitherto ye were not able to bear it, neither yet now are ye able. For ye are yet carnal: for whereas there is among you envying, and strife, and divisions, are ye not carnal, and walk as men” (1 Corinthians 3:1-3).
YOUR ESCAPE FROM THE COMING WRATH
In order to accept the offer of God’s grace and his salvation, you must take the crucial three steps of …
1. Agreeing – A belief and agreeing with God in all that he says in his word, the Bible, about the fact that you are separated from God, as every man and woman on the face of the earth are before accepting his salvation. The Bible reveals that all are separated from him in a spiritual state of death, or in another way that the Bible puts it, in a state of sin, that will result in eternal damnation. Agreeing with God in your heart that you are in need of his salvation. The Bible reveals that God looks upon the heart of a man, and thus, responds accordingly to the man or woman who comes to him for salvation in recognition of his inability to save himself. The Bible makes these facts very clear – “For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God” (Romans 3:23). “For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord” (Romans 6:23). The Bible describes these three kinds of death: physical death (the state experienced when life leaves our bodies); spiritual death (spiritual separation from God caused by our state of spiritual death, or state of sin that results in outward acts of sin on a daily basis as the Bible also puts it – the state of sin is received from the first man Adam); and finally eternal death (the fixed state entered into by the individual who dies physically while he or she is dead spiritually). It is eternal death, in particular, which is the horrible result of receiving the wages of sin. The Lord Jesus Christ frequently described such a death as being eternal (without end) in a destiny which he called Hell. He described Hell as a literal place of judgment (Matthew 13:42); a place of everlasting fire (Matthew 18:8); a place of torment (Luke 16:24,28); a place of weeping and gnashing of teeth (Matthew 13:50); a place of remorse (Mark 9:44-48); of bitter memory (Luke 16:25), and a place originally prepared for the Devil and his angels (Matthew 25:41). In fact, Jesus more often warned about Hell than he spoke about Heaven. It is not God’s will or desire that any person should be consigned to perish in Hell (2 Peter 3:9), but rather that all should come to repentance of unbelief toward him and believe on him for the salvation of the individual’s soul. But God’s justice requires that the “soul who sins” (remains in it’s state of death or state of sin) is the one who will die eternally (Ezekiel 18:4). So, agree with God, admitting that you are unable to save yourself and in a state of sin under God’s just condemnation for that sin and that you are in need of his salvation.
2. Believing – Then, believe that God does not want you to perish eternally in the torment of Hell because of your sin. Believe that God loves you so much that he provided a way whereby he could still be a just, holy and righteous God, and yet pardon you. Believe that God did not just overlook sin, but that he sent his only begotten son, the Lord Jesus Christ, to provide salvation by personally paying the penalty for sin. Believe that Jesus Christ, whose life, death, burial and resurrection is the best-attested fact of antiquity, did come to earth to live, die, rise again and ascend to Heaven in order to provide justification and salvation for all who trust him. Believe that he, and he alone, can save you because he has fully satisfied the just demands of God. Believe that you can’t become righteous in God’s sight by your own effort. Believe that he wants to save you and that he will save you. The Bible provides a solid basis for such belief …
“The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, he is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance (2 Peter 3:9).
“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved” (John 3:16-17).
“But God demonstrates his love toward us in this: while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us (Romans 5:8).
God presented him (Jesus Christ) as a sacrifice of atonement through faith in his blood. He did this to demonstrate his justice because in his forbearance he had left the sins committed beforehand unpunished – he did it to demonstrate his justice at the present time, so as to be just and the one who justifies the man or woman who has faith in Jesus (Romans 3:25-26).
“Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand; By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain. For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures … ” (1 Corinthians 15:1-4).
“Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved” (Acts 4:12).
“Jesus answered, “Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me” (John 14:6). “Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest” (Matthew 11:28).
“All that the Father giveth me shall come to me; and him that cometh to me I will in no wise cast out [drive away]” (John 6:37).
“Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me” (Revelation 3:20).
3. Calling – It is not enough to agree with God, admit your need, and believe that Christ can and will save you. You must act upon those facts. You must repent of the sin of your unbelief toward him and actively call upon him for the salvation of your soul based on the fact that you cannot save yourself because of your sins. You must be willing to completely turn from your own efforts to save yourself or from any other hope. You must come to Christ, calling upon him for salvation and counting on the fact that he will do what he has promised. This means simply taking the gift of pardon and eternal life which he offers. Merely believing about Jesus Christ without coming to him makes as much sense and is as effective as believing that a medication can successfully treat a fatal disease, but failing to take it. Yet again, the Bible emphatically and authoritatively provides the basis for such statements:
“He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God” (John 3:18).
The word translated “believe” here means to “rest one’s entire weight and trust on the object or person in which the belief is placed.” It requires action in keeping with the intellectual assent of that belief.
“For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved” (Romans 10:13).
” … but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord” (Romans 6:23).
The logical question you may be asking at this point is: “how do I come to Christ and call upon him?” The answer is that “calling upon the Lord” is just another term for praying, or talking to God. To talk to God is not a complicated process, dependent upon some special rituals. God has invited people to approach him through his Son in simple, straightforward terms. In fact, Jesus approved of the dishonest, despised tax collector who simply prayed, “God be merciful to me, a sinner.” While the exact words of your prayer to God are not of vital importance (since God sees and knows the attitude of your heart), the following is the kind of prayer that you could pray in calling upon God for salvation …
“Dear Lord Jesus: I realize that I need you. I admit that I have sinned and that I deserve your just, eternal punishment for that sin. But I am sorry for my sin and I am turning to you and asking for forgiveness. I believe that you died and rose again to pay sin’s penalty on my behalf. I come to you and open my heart to you. I ask you to come into my life, forgive me for all of my sin and make me your child. I invite you to take control of my life and to cause me to be the kind of person you would have me to be. I thank you for doing this because you have promised that whosoever calls upon you, as I am doing now, shall be saved. I pray this in the name of your Son, the Lord Jesus Christ. Amen.”
If this prayer expresses the desire of your heart, I urge you to sincerely and genuinely express it to God as your prayer. The Bible makes clear that when we believe on the Lord Jesus Christ in our heart, God forgives our sins and counts us righteous, and that when we openly confess with our mouth what we have done in our heart, God gives us assurance of that salvation (Romans 10:9-10).
“Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God. Nicodemus saith unto him, How can a man be born when he is old? can he enter the second time into his mother’s womb, and be born? Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God. That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again” (John 3:3-7).
